Oceanside Street Rods initiated the concept of the NZ Pre-49 Street Rod Nationals, and hosted the first event at Mt Maunganui in 1997.

 

American guests included the late Gary Meadors and his wife Marilyn from Goodguys Hot Rod Association, hot rodding heroes Andy & Sue Brizio, and Chet Thomas.

That event paved the way for successful events all around the country. Oceanside has hosted the event in Masterton (twice), Napier & Tauranga (twice).

​

In February 2017 for the 20th anniversary we are bringing it to the central North Island location of Taupo, where it will be based at the popular Wairakei Resort.

​

The organisers advise entries have now reached capacity and have closed as at 15th July 2016.
